Neil Young has turned 70 years old.

Neil Percival Young was born on 12 November, 1945 in Toronto, Canada. He is the son of noted Canadian sports journalist and author Scott Young.

In 1963, Young formed his first band The Squires. The music of the surf rock band can be heard on his recent Anthology box set.

In 1966 Young formed Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills, Dewey Martin, Bruce Palmer and Jim Messina. ‘For What Its Worth’, ‘Expecting To Fly’ and Mr Soul’ were all originally Buffalo Springfield songs, later to become part of Young’s solo set.

Young’s first solo album was ‘Neil Young’ in 1968. It contained ‘The Loner’.

Neil Young has recorded 36 solo albums, three albums with Crosby Stills Nash & Young and three with Buffalo Springfield.

Happy Birthday Neil Young.
