Prince has dominated music sales in Australia this week much like the impact David Bowie’s death had on fans back in January.

18 Prince have populated this week’s Australian album chart. Prince has four albums in the Top 10 at positions 2, 4, 5 and 6. Three of those albums are greatest hits. His biggest selling catalogue album was ‘Purple Rain’ at no 5.

Australian fans mirrored the buying habits of the US and UK fans with ‘Purple Rain’ and ‘Sign O The Times’ the two biggest catalogue albums.

Prince fans also bought individual tracks. This week he has seven songs in the Top 40 starting with ‘Purple Rain’ at no 3.

Prince’s chart impact is in part due to the fact that he did not allow his videos on YouTube. Fans who did not already own his songs had to buy them because they couldn’t stream the videos.

Prince songs in the Singles chart are:

3 Purple Rain

22 Little Red Corvette
