Russell Morris Releases Third Blues Album ‘Red Dirt Red Heart’

Russell Morris has released ‘Red Dirt Red Heart’ the third chapter of his blues trilogy.

Morris began capturing the history of Australia’s past with ‘Sharkmouth’ in 2012. The album told in song the stories of many notorious characters including gangsters Shark Jaws and Squizzy Taylor.

More stories followed on 2014’s ‘Van Diemen’s Land’ with a focus more on history than the underworld like Breaker Morant and the Eureka Stockade.

‘Red Dirt Red Heart’ is about indigenous people and life in central Australia, with songs like ‘Alice Springs’, ‘Nullabour Sands’ and ‘Kadaitcha Man’.

The ‘Red Dirt Red Heart’ album was again produced by Mitch Cairns and features the same musicians as on his hit releases ‘Sharkmouth’ and ‘Van Diemen’s Land,’ including Shannon Bourne on guitar.
