Young’s annual Bridge School benefit concert is in its 25th year and the big guns come out once again to play covers of his classics.

Rolling Stone reports that Young teamed up with Canadian indie rock royalty Arcade Fire for ‘Helpless’, folk sensation Mumford & Sons for ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ and previous Bridge School Benefit performer Beck on ‘Pocahontas’.

Dave Matthews chipped in with ‘Oh! Susanna’ and Devendra Banhart,  Norah Jones’ vintage country act Little Willies, Carlos Santana and Eddie Vedder all played sets.

Of course, Young also performed, opening with ‘I Am A Child’ and doing full headline sets, his wife Pegi joined him on the Youngbloods’ ‘Get Together’. He played the song again on the second night with most of the artists on the bill.

The Bridge School Benefit Concert raises money for California’s Bridge School, which teaches children who have physical and mental handicaps.

There’s also a massive 25th Anniversary DVD out today, Monday 24 October, featuring classics played live by legends like Bruce Springsteen, Brian Wilson, Tom Petty, Tom Waits, Elton John & Leon Russell, Paul McCartney, Patti Smith, Metallica, Gilliam Welch, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Young himself and scores more.
