The Muse frontman became a father for the first time when fiancee Kate Hudson – who has eight-year-old son Ryder from her marriage to Chris Robinson – gave birth to Bingham in July 2011 and the pair are relieved not to have experienced many sleepless nights with the little boy.

Matt said: “I’ve been told I’m extremely lucky and I’ve got no idea what it’s like for other people because our baby… the first six weeks, obviously he was up every three or four hours but after the second month he just seems to be going down at 10 o’clock at night and getting up about six so I think we’re very, very lucky.

“He’s been a really good sleeper, even with the moving around, he doesn’t seem to be affected by jet lag either. We’ve gone between LA and London and back a couple of times here and there, but he copes with it very well.”

Despite Matt and Kate’s fame, the rocker loves going back to basics and recently shunned the A-list lifestyle to go on a camping holiday.

He told Andy Bush on Absolute Radio’s ‘Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show’: “I’ve just come back from a lovely camping trip in Devon, I’ve been hanging out in a field for a few days looking at the sheep go by, it’s been lovely, lovely weather. I love it, it’s been a while and it was great to have a little bit of the English countryside.

“I wouldn’t say I need it but I do love to do it every now again and I always feel fully replenished when I’ve gone back to sleeping in a field and chilling out for a bit, and cooking up a couple of sausages for breakfast, it just brings you back down to earth again.”
