Brooklyn garage rock masters Obits (ex-Hot Snakes) have announced a string of tourdates for August.

Australia was particularly saddened by the demise of locomotive rock outfit Hot Snakes, featuring Rick Froberg of Drive Like Jehu and John Reis of Rocket From The Crypt. They released two excellent albums, they toured, they recorded a live album here, they broke up.

But from the ashes came Froberg’s next project, the howling, choppy garage rock outfit Obits and their ripping 2009 debut I Blame You. They followed it up with Moody, Standard And Poor last year, and are on the way to tour once more.

They’re dropping in on Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane and tickets are on sale now.

Check out the videos for ‘Killer’ from their most-recent album and ‘Pine On’ from their debut below.

Obits Australian Tour 2012
Thursday 23 August – Annandale, Sydney
Friday 24 August – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Saturday 25 August – Jive, Adelaide
Sunday 26 August – The Zoo, Brisbane
