Boy band One Direction has kept bloke band Cold Chisel from the number one spot on the Australian chart this week.

Pop act One Direction’s ‘Up All Night’ album has maintained its top spot this week up against the release of ‘No Plans’, the first Cold Chisel album in 14 years.

One Direction had the advantage over Cold Chisel with their first Aussie tour in progress this week while Cold Chisel had to postpone their show in Melbourne due to the CATastrophy by guitarist Ian Moss.

Chisel were also disadvantaged when their usual core champion media supporters the Triple M network (also the presenter for their current show) ignored their new single ‘Everybody’. Austereo, owners of Triple M, instead were all over the Australian visit by the manufactured One Direction.

Cold Chisel will resume concert activity on Wednesday in Sydney and play their rescheduled Melbourne show on Thursday.

One Direction will perform in Melbourne tomorrow (April 16).

It was a quiet debut week on the Aussie chart. At 21 Flo Rida’s ‘Good Feeling EP’ came in. Labrinth ‘Electronic Earth’ debuted at 38 and the ‘Hope’ charity album showed up at no. 46.
