One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is reportedly making plans to buy his favourite soccer club.

The One Direction singer is an avid Doncaster Rovers fan, and even played a game with them earlier this year, but has now set his sights on becoming their new chairman say sources.

Louis, along with another investor, are said to be putting together a bid to buy the struggling side.

“He’s putting everything into it,” a source revealed to British newspaper The Sun. ‘This is his passion project – and it will happen. He’s putting everything into it because of his love for the side.’

Louis is reportedly working with John Ryan, a former owner of the club who sold it to a group called Keepmoat.

Tycoon John still retains a quarter share but with Louis’ help will buy the football team outright, with both men acting as co-chairmen.

‘John is the business brains. He’s incredibly experienced and Louis is learning so much from him. They want the deal to go through by July in time for the start of the new season. It’s at an advanced stage,” the insider said.

While 22-year-old Louis is busy with his football plans and his dedication to One Direction, who are currently on the UK leg of their Where We Are Tour, he’s also currently battling a backlash from fans and critics.

Earlier this week MailOnline posted a video that seemingly showed Louis and fellow bandmate Zayn Malik smoking marijuana while in Peru.

‘The timing of the Peru video has really upset him because he doesn’t want anything to jeopardise the deal, which is very commercially sensitive and worth a seven-figure sum,” the source revealed.

‘Louis is going to attract a lot of new investors. He and John have very ambitious plans for the club. They want to get back to the Championship within a year and into the Premiership within three years.’

If the deal goes through, Louis will be following in the footsteps of pop legend Sir Elton John, who became chairmen of English club Watford FC in 1976. While he no longer owns it, he still holds a financial interest.
