Pet Shop Boys Neil Tennant Mugged In Rio de Janeiro

Neil Tennant, the singer for the Pet Shop Boys, is fine after being mugged in Rio de Janiero.

He and musical partner Chris Lowe were in Brazil to play at the Rock in Rio Festival.

According to reports, just hours after their performance, Tennant and band programmer Pete Gleadell were out for a walk from their Belmond Copacabana Hotel to Leme Beach when they were approached by four men who demanded money and their phones. No weapons were shown and the two men complied with the demands.

Pet Shop Boys spokesperson Murray Chalmers told Britain’s The Guardian “They had no knives. Pete Gleadall had his phone stolen and reported it to the police. Neil had his phone stolen but didn’t report it. Pet Shop Boys are saying it wasn’t a big deal, and that it wasn’t violent and that phone theft is the most common crime in that area.”

Nonetheless, it is reported that additional security has been added to the band’s entourage.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
