Pixies Split With Kim Shattuck

Although not yet confirmed by the band, the Pixies have gotten rid of their new bassist, Kim Shattuck.

The Pixies brought Shattuck on board at the beginning of July after original bassist Kim Deal left the band. While never named a permanent part of the band, she toured with them over the summer and had hoped for more.

Shattuck made the announcement on her Facebook page:

Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.

The Muffs were formed in 1991 by Shattuck and former co-member in the band The Pandoras, Melanie Vammen. They’ve released five studio album, the last being 2004’s Really Really Happy.

The Pixies play North America in January, so a replacement will need to be found fairly quickly.
