Gavin Ryan reports that the NEW #2 is  “Sweet Nothings” by Calvin Harris feat Florence Welch
Calvin Harris remixed the last Florence + the Machine single “Spectrum (Say My Name)” (HP-4, TW-30), which helped the group to score their second Top 5 single this year {the other was “Never Let Me Go” HP-3, April 2012}, now Florence Welch is guest vocalist on Calvin’s new track “Sweet Nothings” which jumps straight in at No.2 becoming both acts highest charting positions, although Calvin was up this high as guest artist on Rihanna’s No.2 single “We Found Love” (HP-2×5, Oct/Nov 2011). “Sweet Nothings” also becomes Calvin’s fifth Top 10 hit and fourth Top 10 single from his late October due third album entitled “18 Months”.

Guy Sebastian drops back to No.3 again with “Battle Scars”, the song now having spent its entire ten weeks within the Top 3. With Calvin Harris debuting so high, it pushes last weeks Top 5 down the charts, with “Skinny Love” for Birdy and “Hall of Fame” for The Script featuring Will.i.am both down a place to No.4 and No.5 respectively.

Pink holds her No.6 peak for “Try”, and Rihanna’s “Diamonds” are set in stone at No.8 for a third week, the same place it debuted at the start of the month. Sam and the Womp move up three places to No.9 with their debut single “Bom Bom” and Taylor Swift scores a second Top 10 hit from her new album “Red”, with last weeks No.24 debut for “I Knew You Were Trouble” jumping up fourteen places to land at No.10 this week.

NEW #7 – “Wish You Were Here” by Delta Goodrem
Delta’s fourth album “Child of the Universe” is due out at the end of October and the third single from the album debuts at No.7 this week, “Wish You Were Here”, which has been used for the past couple of weeks on promo’s for Channel 9’s “House Husbands” drama series. It instantly becomes her thirteenth Top 10 single, and she has already charted this year with “Sitting on Top of the World” (HP-2, April 2012) and “Dancing with a Broken Heart” (HP-15, August 2012) from the new upcoming album.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Swedish House Mafia and their track “Don’t You Worry Child” could become the groups first Top 10 hit in Australia, but for this week it moves up two places to a new peak of No.11, whilst Reece Mastin’s “Rock Star” jumps up fifteen places to land inside the Top 20 at No.16, helped by his X-Factor appearance this past week.

Of Monsters and Men continue to climb up with their current single “Little Talks”, this week the track is up three places to No.31. Kid Cudi jumps up twenty-one places to No.32 with “Just What I Am”, but right behind it zooming up forty-four places to No.33 is Enrique Iglesias and Sammy Adams with “Finally Found You”. Icona Pop jump up five places to No.36 with “I Love it”, and returning at No.40 and scoring a new peak is Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj with “Beauty and the Beat”. Ellie Goulding rises up eight places from last weeks debut to land at No.46 with “Anything Could Happen” and up sixteen places to No.50 is Usher with “Numb”.

DOWN DOWN: Adele’s “Skyfall” leapt into the chart last week at No.5, but it seems to be a one-week-wonder as this week the track falls thirty-six places to No.41, but no doubt it will rise back up when the 23rd James Bond film opens around the country on November 22nd. “Die Young” for Ke$ha, “I Cry” for Flo Rida and “Live While We’re Young” for One Direction are the other three Top 10 dropouts this week.

“R.I.P.” for Rita Ora falls eight places to No.22, but the next major drop is Taylor Swift with “Red” (HP-30), down twenty-eight places to No.58 this week. The biggest fall of the week though is The Janoskians who jumped back into the Top 20 last week, but falls sixty-five places to No.84 with “Set This World on Fire”. And more fire falls, with the “This Fire” EP for Birds of Tokyo down fifty-six places to No.88 and “Lolita” for The Veronicas tumbles twenty-seven spots to No.72.

X-FACTOR Live (Eps. 5): PSY and Reece Mastin were the two big acts to benefit from their live performances on the show last week, with Jay Sean also appearing in the group medley number, he returns at No.100 with “I’m All Yours” (HP-13) and his new song debuts at No.95, “So High”. The Collective are the only X-Factor act within the Top 100 this week, they debut at No.65 with their version of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” (HP-1, March/April 1989).

NEW #34 – “Wings” by Little Mix
Winners of the UK X-Factor series 8 were the first group act to win their competition, and the four girls called themselves Little Mix. They debut at No.34 with their second UK single “Wings”, which along with their 2011 X-Factor winning single “Cannonball” have both been No.1 singles in England, Scotland and Ireland. Their debut album “DNA” is due for release in mid-November.

NEW #44 – “State of Grace” by Taylor Swift
“Red”, the new album for Taylor Swift comes out on Monday the 22nd of October, and the fifth track from the album debuts at No.44 entitled “State of Grace”. She also is within the Top 100 with the following tracks from that album (plus one extra)…
10 – I Knew You Were Trouble (HP-10)
15 – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (HP-3)
44 – State of Grace (HP-44)
58 – Red (HP-30)
out – Begin Again (HP-20)
out – Both of Us (HP-5)

NEW #49 – “Holdin’ On” by Flume
Sydney based electronic artist Flume (Harley Streten) debuts with his first ARIA Singles Chart entry entitled “Holdin’ On”. He is currently in the US touring and playing clubs.

Lower 50: The Rubens rise a couple of places to a new peak of No.56 with “My Gun”, whilst Disclosure are up one place to No.61 with “Latch”. Conor Maynard and Ne-Yo rise up eleven places to No.68 with “Turn Around”, whilst Qwote and Pitbull’s “Letting Go (Cry Just a Little)” jumps up eight places to a new peak of No.75.

John Farnham and “You’re the Voice” return at No.77 thanks to its use in the new Ford ads for their SYNC system.

Fun. return at No.53 with “Carry On”, and Christina Aguilera is back on the charts at No.63 with “Your Body”. Lil’ Jon teams up with LMFAO for “Drink” at No.67, and Maroon 5 debut at No.70 with their new single “Daylight”. Sydney hip-hop duo Hermitude scored their first ARIA entry with the album “Hyperparadise” (HP-37, Feb 2012), and this week they debut at No.82 with the title track from that set remixed by #49 débutee Flume. Lana Del Rey debuts at No.89 with “Ride”, Chance Waters is in at No.91 with “Young and Dumb”, and Elen Levon is in at No.96 with “Dancing to the Same Song”.
