Punch Brothers will head to Australia for the first time in August for dates in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Described as “progressive bluegrass”, Punch Brothers formed in 2006. The band features mandolin, fiddle, banjo, guitar and bass.

Punch Brothers signed with Nonesuch Records and released their first album ‘Punch’ in 2008. The third and latest record ‘Who’s Feeling Young Now?’ was released in February this year.

In 2011 they were the subject of the documentary ‘How To Grow A Band’, directed by Mark Meatto. The film premiered at the 42nd Nashville Film Festival in 2011 and also screened as part of the 38th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

In 2012, they contributed the song ‘Dark Days’ to the blockbuster ‘The Hunger Games’.

The Punch Brothers will perform at in the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall at the Melbourne Recital Centre on August 6 and also perform at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival on August 10.
