Carson Van Osten, a one-time member of US rock band Nazz, has died at age 70.

Van Osten was a member of Woody’s Truck Stop featuring Todd Rundgren and then formed Nazz with Rundgren in 1967. Van Osten was Nazz’s bass player.

After leaving the band Van Osten became an artist for Disney. In the 1980’s Disney promoted him to art director for Disney Comics and he created Mickey Mouse and Goofy comics for Disney Studio in the 70s.

Van Osten was also a model railroad designer, creating the N scale model railroad the Rio Pico.

In August 19, 2015 Carson Van Osten was honored with the Disney Award from the Walt Disney Company for his contribution to Disney. That came with a lifetime pass to any Disney theme park. Van Osten died on December 22, 2015.
