Former Budgie guitarist John Thomas has died at the age of 63.

Thomas joined Budgie in 1979 replacing Rob Kendrick and stayed until the band split in 1988. He returned for the 1995 and 1996 reunion and was back again from 1999 to 2002.

John Thomas played on three Budgie albums 1980’s Power Supply, 1981’s Nightflight and 1982’s Deliver Us From Evil.

Budgie drummer Steve Williams announced the death of Thomas posting to Facebook “My friend and fellow Budgie band member John Thomas sadly passed away last night. My thoughts are with the loved ones he left behind”.
