Rita Ora Becomes Honorary Ambassador To Kosovo

Rita Ora doesn’t want to step on anyone’s toes in her new role as honorary ambassador of Kosovo.

The Poison singer was born in the Eastern European country and was recently given the role by the country’s president Atifete Jahjaga. While the 24-year-old hopes to make positive changes with her new title, she isn’t planning on turning her back on music any time soon.

‘I’m not a politician,’ she told British newspaper The Mirror. ‘I’m going to do what I’ve been doing as a musician and be aware, give a positive message. I’m not trying to step on anyone’s toes.’

Rita has had a number of chats with president Jahjaga about what she would like to do in her role. She plans to use her influence to help young people engage more in the world of politics.

‘I’ve spoken to the president and Tony Blair. What we’re trying to do is blur the social/cultural barriers we have, because right now with social networks, there really isn’t any barrier within the countries, like Brazil and Kosovo,’ she explained. ‘It’s almost like all of our problems have merged into one. What I’m trying to do is make our generation be aware of what, politically, we can do as a team to change our future.’

Right now, Rita thinks young people’s focus is elsewhere and that politics isn’t at the top of their agenda.

‘Sometimes people vote more for a singer to win an award than for their prime minister,’ she added. ‘If parliament would have me, I’d talk to them.’
