Robin Thicke’s “miserable week” wasn’t so miserable after all. Thicke’s ‘Paula’ failed to crack the ARIA album chart last week because it hadn’t been released yet.

Reports doing the rounds today as far away as NME in London and the Lefsetz Report in the USA were shouting about Thicke’s Aussie chart failure but its hard to chart when your record isn’t out.

Even The Guardian and Sydney based music site Music Feeds failed to check the facts when they both mouthed off about Robin Thicke’s “failure”. “Australians are just not that interested in Robin Thicke’s ploy to get his estranged wife back,” wrote Nastassia Baroni in Music Feeds. “Robin Thicke’s miserable week seems to be going from bad to worse,” wrote Sian Cain in The Guardian. The failure was both writers not checking their facts.

Robin Thicke ‘Paula’ was released in Australia on July 4. iTunes took pre-orders for the release from June 30. Pre-orders do not count towards the ARIA chart in the week they are taken. All pre-orders for Robin Thicke ‘Paula’ will be included in the sales figures for the next chart tomorrow.

Robin Thicke ‘Paula’ sold “less than 54 copies” because it simply wasn’t available for sale at the time last weeks chart was compiled.

But please, do watch this space. The first week chart position for Robin Thicke ‘Paula’ will be officially revealed when ARIA publishes the next album chart at 7pm Saturday.
