Singer Sam Smith has shown of his Guinness World Records win in a new photo, posing with his certificates.

On Sunday (18Oct15) it was announced the British crooner had nabbed two of the accolades for his contributions to music. One was for In the Lonely Hour, which smashed the record for the most consecutive weeks in the UK top 10 album charts for a debut record. It entered the top 10 in May 2014 and dropped out last week (ends18Oct15), marking a 69-week run.

His second world record celebrates him becoming the first singer to achieve a number one with a James Bond theme tune for Writing’s on the Wall, the soundtrack to Spectre. Posing proudly with the documentations framed in glass, Sam captioned the proud shot on Instagram: “YEAH BOI@guinnessworldrecords (sic).”

The picture encouraged plenty of congratulations from fans. One user wrote, “Congrats! I bet this wont (sic) be your first ;) You are amazing in every single way and you deserve everything,” while another posted: “WOOHOO CONGRATULATIONS SAMMY IM SO SO PROUD YOU LOVE (sic)” followed by two heart emoticons.

In the Lonely Hour beats previous record holder Emeli Sandé, who remained in the top 10 for 63 weeks with her 2012 debut Our Version of Events. Sam spoke out following the news, unable to contain his excitement.

“This is so amazing! It’s such an honour to be recognised by Guinness World Records,” he gushed. “It’s been an unbelievable 18 months – the album exceeded even my wildest dreams thanks to the incredible support of my fans, and to record the first ever Bond theme to reach No.1 in the UK is a real privilege.”

He was presented with both certificates at RAK Studios in London last week (ends18Oct15).
