Sarah McLeod has confirmed that drummer Mick Skelton has regained consciousness and is breathing on his own following the horrific car crash that took the life of Thirsty Merc crew member Shane Cooper last week.

Cooper and Skelton were travelling together to a Thirsty Merc gig in Warnambool on September 23. The accident happened around 2:30pm at Streatham in western Victoria.

Singer Rai Thistlewayte, bass player Phil Stack and guitarist Matt Smith were in a separate vehicle when the accident occurred at around 2:30pm on Tuesday afternoon (22 September 2015).

Skelton, who is also the drummer in Sarah’s solo band, tweeted “Mick woke up and the breathing tubes came out! All our collective love”.

Thirsty Merc have postponed all dates on their Australian tour until further notice.
