Shit Hits The Fan Over Rewind 80s Festival

The Rewind 80s festival is going down the S bend fast with punters angry that organisers have changed cities and won’t give a refund one week out from the show.

Rewind 80s was to happen in Wollongong on the week after next but has moved to Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. That is a downsize in capacity from 30,000 to 5,000.

The promoter’s excuse is that bad weather is expected. He seems to have very good knowledge of Wollongong weather 10 days ahead of time. “The main reason this event will not take place in Wollongong is due to saftey fears over the site, We have walked the site again yesterday and feel we had no choice in moving, the rain is forcast for the next few weeks and the site would only become more unsafe”.

Then to add insult to injury, there are no refunds. “We have looked at the refund policys and its quite clear that refunds will only be given in the event of cancellation or postponment, this is not the case the event is going ahead , the part that is available for refunds would be camping tickets purchased”, states the Rewind Facebook page.

Now the punters are pissed. “So far in the past three hours, I’ve told everyone on my facebook, I’ve contacted Dept of Fair Trading and I’ve also submitted a story to A Current Affair… I will continue until I get my refund,” writes Doug Jenkins.

“Just got email with this crap from moshtix, The promoters of Rewind Festival Australia have indicated that refunds for festival tickets will not be provided due to the change of venue,” writes Kelli Bennett-Smith.

“So is the horse racing moved to an indoor venue if rain on the horizon due to “safety issues”. My fucking arse it’s not. Melbourne Cup moved, I don’t fucking think so,” wrote Ann Baker.

Acts have also been dropped with little notice. Human League manager Simon Watson told the Illawarra Mercury. “It’s very disappointing for fans and for the band,” he said. “Unfortunately we had no say in the matter.”
