Sia has personally endorsed a new video by St Kilda Deputy Mayor Serge Thomann featuring her song ‘Chandelier’.

The idea to make the ‘I Love St Kilda’ video began early this year. When work was finally completed, the project still needed one more tick, an approval from Sia. The first request went to producer Marcus Szabo in Sweden. “When I contacted Marcus Szabo in Sweden he said ‘I am happy for you to use my remix but it’s not my song. You might have to get Sia to approve it’. After months of waiting Sia approved it on Thursday,” Cr Thomann tells Noise11.com.

The stunning imagery was done from Drone Air Australia.

Serge made the video as a thank you to the people of his electorate. He was voted to council after campaigning to protect the St Kilda Council from development. Since being elected he has successfully kept St Kilda for the community.

“I think St Kilda is a fantastic place,” he said. “We have a beautiful bay and we have to tell the world how fantastic St Kilda is. I did a ‘Happy’ video a couple of years ago for the celebration of the people living there with hundreds of people in it. This is a way to celebrate St Kilda as a magnificent place”.

With council elections in October, Serge says he still has unfinished business. “Fitzroy Street is unfinished. It’s complicated,” he says. “Acland Street was a big issue but now that work has started to happen people realize that the sky is not falling in. When it is finished it will be a beautiful place for people to come and visit and have a meal and a coffee. I still have an issue with the St Kilda Triangle. We have to find the right cultural institution we can build on the Triangle site. The next thing is to attract the Pride Centre, part of the Andrew’s Government as a place of respect and diversity, respect for LGBTI communities.

The centerpiece of St Kilda is Melbourne’s iconic and controversial Palais Theatre. Sia last performed at The Palais on 2 February 2011. “I had to stop a massive development next to the Palais,” he said. “Two years ago The Palais was going to close down. Now it is being refurbished. I am not happy with the future operator that has been appointed but I will make sure everything that has been promised will be delivered”.

“The Palais will be closed for the first three months of next year for internal refurbishment. All the outside work is being done. The Palais is still operating and lots of shows are coming up. The last show will be on December 19 with Rockwiz Salutes the Palais. The new operator will take over April 1 and will start having gigs from mid-May,” he said.

Council elections will be held in the State of Victoria in October 2016. Serge Thomann will once again be running in St Kilda for one of the three seats in the Lake Ward.
