It looks like St Kilda guitar legend Spencer P. Jones will have a laneway in his name.

The City of Port Phillip has unanimously approved the concept with State Government approval the next and final step in the process. “Tonight the City of Port Phillip Council voted unanimously(all nine councillors) in favour of the Spencer P Jones laneway!!!!! Thanks COPP!!Now we go to the next step,” organiser Nick Haines posted to facebook.

Nick also championed the naming of Rowland S Howard Lane in St Kilda.

Spencer was diagnosed with liver cancer in March 2018. He passed away on 21 August 2018.

Spencer P Jones was best known for his work with The Johnnys and The Beasts of Bourbon.

Spencer has also been a member of Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls, Chris Bailey and the General Dog and Maurice Frawley and the Working Class Ringos.
