Robert Rigby, the managing director of Jon English’s record label Ambition Entertainment was heartbroken by the news of the passing of Jon English today.

Robert has released this heartfelt message:

Jon English was the first artist that signed with Ambition Entertainment when we opened our doors.

We were so incredibly thrilled & proud to have known and to have worked with him.

Jon was a multi-faceted entertainer who had enormous success, not only in the music industry but also television and live theatre for over 40 years.

Working with Jon during this time, we grew to know him as a kind and caring man with a great sense of humour.

Many people may not know, at the peak of his career, he was the top selling male artist in the country.

He was due to record his first studio album in 22 years next month in Sweden, where he had a huge following – thanks to the international success of the mini-series Against The Wind and the title track Six Ribbons.

Jon loved all things associated with the world of Ancient Greece and his passion for this culminated into the rock-opera Paris.

We will miss our dear friend Jon – a true Australian Rock God!

Robert Rigby
Managing Director
Ambition Entertainment Pty Ltd

Jon English died from complications after undergoing surgery yesterday, 9 March 2016. He was 66.
