If you are planning on attending SXSW in 2013 it is wise to get in early. While tickets are available for the event right up until the day, hotels fill-up fast.
SXSW is based at the Austin Convention Center and venues ripple out for miles but the main venues are within walking distance of the Convention Center. We recommend first timers to SXSW secure accommodation as close to the Convention Center as possible and that generally means booking within the first few weeks.
While the Music events are on from March 12 to 17, Noise11 recommends international travellers to Austin arrive at least by the Monday (11th) to adjust to the timezone and leave on Monday 19th to avoid to a: give you at least one day (Sunday) to see some of Austin and b: avoid the Sunday stampede at the airport by the American’s returning to work the following day.
