T. Rex Bass Player Played Bass On A Wreckless Eric Song

Steve Currie, best known for his work with Marc Bolan and T. Rex played on the very first Wreckless Eric album, bit only on one song.

“We had Barry Payne playing the bass and he had to go back to school to do his exams so someone said lets get Stevie Currie. It was odd really,” Wreckless Eric tells Noise11.com. “To be honest I don’t think we liked each other. He was all business I am was not at all business. I don’t know if I even had a conversation with him but yes he played the bass on one track”.

Steve Currie was a long-term member of T.Rex, playing on the first T.Rex hit ‘Hot Love’ and right through to the final album ‘Dandy In The Underworld’, released six months before Marc Bolan died.

Eric says Currie did his session after Bolan’s death. “Marc died in 1977 and he made the album after that around Christmas and into 1978,” Eric said.

Steve Currie died in a car accident in Portugal in 1981, aged 33.

Wreckless Eric will tour Australia for David Roy Williams.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
