The Black Keys Say “There’s Much Worse Bands Than Nickelback… Maybe”

The Black Keys have described themselves as musical snobs and cheekily keep the Nickelback rivalry alive.

Dan Auerbach and Pat Carney reiterated their music snobbery in an interview with MTV Canada recently. They were asked whether they were music snobs – Dan saying “I think I am, probably” and Pat saying no.

But then Pat went on to quickly specify that “I don’t like bad music” then straight away says “I’ve got a lot of friends and not one of them has a Nickelback record”.

He continues, “There are certain bands that make me embarrassed to be…” “Human,” Dan cuts in. “…on Earth. Like they actually make me want to take the spaceship away.”

While Pat does consider that Chad Kroeger from Nickelback “would probably punch me in the face” if they met, he admits “I didn’t mean to single them out. There’s much worse bands than Nickelback… maybe”.

It’s all in good spirits, Pat laughing that that “was the worst apology” and Dan agreeing. Keep it going, boys, this is good sport. We dutifully await Nickelback’s response on Twitter.
