The 2016 Screen Music Awards will be in Sydney this year and Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen of The Chaser will host.

The Screen Music Awards represents the APRA, AMCOS and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) recognition of excellence in music for film and television in Australia for the past 12 months.

“Our members are doing fantastic work in the film and television space, and the Screen Music Awards highlight and honour their talent and success,” Brett Cottle, Chief Executive APRA AMCOS, said in a statement.

The special guest for musical direction of the night’s production will be Australian Emmy Award-winning screen composer Ashley Irwin. Ashley is a regular collaborator with Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood and worked on the 88th Academy awards arranging and producing the music.

Taylor and Hansen are fifth time Screen Music Awards hosts.

The Screen Music Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of Australian composers across 12 categories including compositions for documentaries, short films, mini-series, advertising, children’s television and feature film scores.

The Screen Music Awards will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at the City Recital Hall in Sydney.
