The Human League Play Their First Complete Australia Show For Adelaide

The Human League have kicked off their headline tour of Australia in Adelaide after a warm-up opening for Culture Club last weekend. One song that is sure to get a run wasn’t originally a Human League song at all but has become one of their greatest hits live.

‘Together In Electric Dreams’ was credited to Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder. The song was recorded for the soundtrack to the 80s movie ‘Electric Dreams’.

“It’s become a Human League song,” Philip Oakey tells Noise11.com. “It is just me and Giorgio (Moroder) playing on it. He wanted Joanne and Susan to sing on it but they were doing something at the time. So he went around LA and found people who sounded like them. It is very much like a Human League”.

Fans of The Human League can expect to hear the song in the encore on this current Australian tour.

The ‘Electric Dreams’ soundtrack featured original music by Jeff Lynne, Culture Club and Heaven 17 but the Oakey Moroder song was the big hit. Despite charting all over the world, the song didn’t save the movie. Even Philip Okaey says the movie is a dog but he did once buy it. “I bought it on Laser Disc and I bought it on video CD. No, It slightly under performed didn’t it!

The Human League last toured Australia in 2009 for the now defunct V Festival. The 2017 is complete greatest hits and a smattering of the total career with a heavy dose of the iconic ‘Dare’ album.
