NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 28, 2019 – Managing Partners Paul Krisikos, Anna Myrha and Eva Fattahi of The Last Muse, LLC along with Nick Kontonicolas, COO of The Noise Network unveil plans to produce an eight-part mini-series showcasing the captivating life of opera’s supreme diva, Maria Callas. This series will delve into the complexities of her life story with a fresh narrative that tackles current issues in a fascinating historical context.

Anna Myrha says, “Maria Callas’ story has all of the captivating elements of a classic Greek tragedy. She stood against powerful forces to bring an element of progress to humanity. Today Maria is famous not only for sparking change in music but also change in the aesthetics of femininity – proving there is beauty in darkness.”

“Through this unique telling of Callas’ story, we will see beyond the flashy headlines contrived by the press and an opera establishment dedicated to preserving tradition. This defiance sparked a change that reverberated beyond the opera world and into the very core of a patriarchal society,” said Paul Krisikos.

“This series will take viewers on a panoramic view of 20th-century society. Maria Callas’ journey includes the tribulations of the Great Depression through the eyes of a typical immigrant family in New York; the turmoil in Athens, Greece during the Nazi invasion; and a time when a sassy woman could challenge gender norms by forcing a female narrative that showcases power, grit and perseverance,” added Eva Fattahi.

Nick Kontonicolas along with The Noise Network’s Executive Producer and CEO, Paul Cashmere have begun to create a financial path to move the mini-series from the development stage into the production phase. The Noise Network works on creating and financing captivating television and film content targeted for a worldwide audience. Mr Kontonicolas says “I am thrilled to be a part of a project that bridges together my passion for music, engaging global content and most of all, stories with a Greek tragic hero on a modern-day adventure.

Paul Cashmere adds, “This mini-series fits into the Noise Network’s vision for creating great content with a worldwide appeal. Historical figures in music have a story of struggle, determination and persistence. The Story of Maria Callas is not just a music story. She won despite the odds. This is a positive story the audience not only wants but needs to hear.”
