The Pretty Things formed in London in 1963. Dick Taylor was the original bass player in Rollin’ Stones with Mick Jagger, Brian Jones and Keith Richards. His stay in the Stones was for 6 short months. He left and was replaced by Bill Wyman.

The first two singles for The Pretty Things were ‘Rosalyn’ and ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’. Both were covered by David Bowie for his ‘Pinups’ album.

The Pretty Things can also claim to have recorded the very first rock opera. ‘SF Sorrow’ was released in December 1968. In May 1969 The Who released ‘Tommy’.

While The Pretty Things were recording ‘SF Sorrow’ at Abbey Road, Pink Floyd were in the next studio working on ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’. Floyd later cited ‘SF Sorrow’ as the influence for ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’.

December dates are:

Tuesday 4th – The Corner Hotel, Richmond
Wednesday 5th – Lizotte’s, Dee Why
Friday 7th – The Factory Theatre, Marrickville
Saturday 8th – Good God Small Club, Sydney
Thursday 13th – Caravan Club, Oakleigh
