The Seekers Australian Story Sends Albums Back Into The Charts

The Seekers are Pop Stars again this week with five albums gracing the iTunes chart.

The Seekers were the subject of Australian Story on the ABC on Monday night. The exposure has generated interest in their music with multiple compilations flying back into the iTunes chart.

No 4: The Best of The Seekers
No 21: The Very Best of The Seekers
No 23: The Golden Jubilee Album
No 29: The Ultimate Collection
No 32: Greatest Hits

This Friday, ‘Farewell The Golden Jubilee Australian Farewell Tour of 2013’ will be released on Decca on CD and DVD. The concert was filmed during their hometown show in Melbourne.

The Seekers say: “Little did we know when we sang together for the first time in 1962 at Treble Clef in Melbourne, that we would be celebrating our 50th anniversary – still performing, still recording and still in the same line-up that unexpectedly took the music world by storm in the mid-1960s. Nor could we have known that the music we made in that golden era would endure for five decades and be embraced by generation after generation of music lovers the world over.”

“And now, this beautifully produced CD & DVD souvenir of our final Australian tour to mark the beginning of our much-valued long-term partnership with Universal/Decca.”

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
