There Are Now Two Bands Called Yes

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on April 11, 2017

in News

Forget ARW, the collaboration of former Yes members Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman. That name has officially been retired and they are now officially Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman.

Anderson explained the name change, saying “It’s very simple. … The fans want it, we want it and it’s our right to use the name. Yes music is in our DNA!”

Lee Pomeroy and Lou Molino III fill out the lineup.

The other, and up until now the ONLY version, of Yes will continue to tour together. Manned by founding member Steve Howe and Alan White, who joined two years later, the lineup also includes Geoff Downes, Billy Sherwood and Jon Davison.

There has been no word on how this agreement came about. It just seems to have come as a result of all of the members of both bands getting together at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night.

It also appears that the two versions of the band are going out of their way to not tour during the same time period, at least for the rest of 2017.

The Damned + The Hard Ons, Northcote Theatre, Friday 22nd March 2024

The Damned released the first ever UK punk single, “New Rose” off album Damned, Damned, Damned, in 1976, and were often overshadowed by their English punk counterparts. Now in their late sixties and still touring world-wide, featuring the original line up of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray, they are the ones having the last laugh and have left their old rivals for dead, in certain respects, quite literally!
