Todd McKenney Replaces Craig McLachlan For Melbourne Season Of Rocky Horror Show

by Paul Cashmere on March 4, 2018

in News

Todd McKenney will play Frank N’Furter in the Melbourne season of the Rocky Horror Show following the departure of Craig McLachlan after the ABC’s ‘trial by media’ stunt.

The ABC’s 7:30 Report took it upon themselves to play judge and jury in the court of public opinion in a one-sided report that resulted in McLachlan’s departure from the hit theatre production and subsequent assassination of his career. The matter is now before the real court with McLachlan suing for defamation.

Craig’s understudy Adam Rennie took over the Frank N’ Further role for the Adelaide production. McKenney will be Frank for Melbourne.

“I have dreamt of playing this role ever since I first saw the stage show in Perth in the 80’s, it is one of those rare beauties that gives an actor the opportunity to put their personal stamp on one of the most fun characters in musical theatre. I’ve been offered the role in the past but the timing has never been right so now I finally get to live out my dream, I can’t wait to get my corset, pearls, fishnets and high heels on to give Melbourne audiences the night of their lives!” McKenney said in a statement.

The Melbourne season will also feature Shane Jacobson as the Narrator, Kristian Lavercombe as Riff Raff, Amanda Harrison as Magenta, Brendan Irving as Rocky and James Bryers as Eddie/Dr Scott.

Brad and Janet will be played by Rob Mallett and Michelle Smitheram.

Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne
Season: From 13 July 2018
Performance Times: Tuesday – Saturday 7.30pm, Saturday 2.00pm, Sunday 1.30 & 5.30pm
