ABC youth network Triple J has does the unthinkable topping the ratings for the 25-39 year old demographic in Australia’s two largest markets Sydney and Perth.

The 25-39 year old demographic is the most sort after of all age brackets attracting the highest revenues from advertising than any other demographic. The irony is that the ABC is commercial free and therefore advertisers cannot buy advertising in their most favoured demographic in Sydney or Melbourne.

Sydney drew a 14.5 share for Triple J’s 25-39 demo up from 13.0 in the previous survey. KIIS 1065 was number two in the demographic with a 12.6 share.

In Melbourne Triple J stayed stable with a 13.7 share but NOVA 100 dropped back to a 13.3 share leaving Triple J the clear winner for 25-39 year olds.

In Perth, Triple J won the 18-24 demographic taking a 33% share of available radio listeners, way ahead of number two in the demo NOVA93.7 with a 20.2 share. In Perth Triple J ranked number 3 overall beating commercial rival FMs 96FM and 92.9.

In Sydney, Triple J overall 10+ now rates higher than both Austereo stations Triple M and 2DAYFM with the Austereo duopoly ending the year with its most disastrous ratings year of all time.

In Brisbane, Triple J also out-rates Triple M overall.

The Australian Radio Network’s WSFM and KIIS1065 are the number one and number two FM stations in Sydney for all people 10+.

Four Corners Sony Music Expose Is Just The Tip of the Iceberg

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of ‘Trial By Media’. The objective for a television program is eyeballs, not a legal conclusion. That is precisely what a huge brand name like Sony Music can deliver. Four Corners simply opened a door and allowed viewers a peak inside the entertainment industry and it was pretty ugly.
