Simone Bosé, the newly appointed President of Universal Music Spain, has died from complications from pneumonia at the age of 51.

Italian Bosé was one of the most respected people in the music industry in Europe.

A graduate of the Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, Simone entered the music business with help from his cousin, Latin Grammy award winning musician Miguel Bosé.

Simone worked for Mercury Records from 1992 to 1999 and then co-founded his own label BajaMusic. He folded the label into EMI Music Spain in 2004 and in 2009 became Chairman of EMI Spain and Portugal and then President of Parlophone EMI and Warner after Warner acquired Parlophone.

In September Bosé announced he was leaving Parlophone to join Universal.
