Whitney Houston has been laid to rest one week after her death at the age of 48 in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey.

Actor Kevin Costner, her co-star in The Bodyguard, spoke at the funeral of a younger Whitney who was never confident in her own talent. “The inexplicable burden that comes with fame. call it doubt, call it fear, I’ve had mine,” he said in his Eulogy. “The Whitney I knew was still wondering if I’m good enough. Am I pretty enough? Will they like me? It was what made her great, and what caused her to stumble at the end.”
Last Saturday, on February 11, Whitney Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton hotel, just hours before she was to attend record company mogul Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party.
Davis talked of her flaws and friendship. “Purely and simply, she was one of a kind. Yes, she admitted to the crazies and to Oprah her searing battles,” he said. “But when I needed her, she was there for me. She was an eternally loyal friend. Whatever the cause or event.”
He also said she was working on a new album for release in August. “She was getting in shape, swimming for an hour or two a day. No cigarettes. Plenty of vocal exercises.”
Elton John, Bill Cosby, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, Chaka Khan and Roberta Flack were just some of the celebrities at the funeral.
Whitney’s former husband Bobby Brown also attended the service but left immediately afterwards.
As a mark of respect for the late singer, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ordered state flags be lowered to half-staff for the day in honor of their famous sister.
