To get to Abbey Road studios, of course!

Sir Paul McCartney dropped into the studios he and his fellow Beatles made famous, yesterday (23 July), to do a (not so) secret gig showcasing some new songs from his forthcoming album, Egypt Station, and some from his illustrious past.

But not before posing on the famous crossing in London’s St John’s Wood, before hundreds of fans and onlookers.
The 76-year-old looked dapper in burgundy jeans, a crisp white shirt, and Birkenstock sandals.

After he got inside, he performed to a few fortunate, selected fans, and an assortment of celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Johnny Depp, Liv Tyler, Orlando Bloom, rapper Stormzy, and his wife Nancy, and three of his children, Mary, Stella and James.

McCartney is preparing to go on the road again, with his phenomenal band, comprising musical director, Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards, accordion), Brian Ray (guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums).

Dates for the “Freshen Up” tour announced so far are:
17 September, Centre Vidéotron, Quebec, Canada
20 September, Centre Bell, Montreal, Canada
28 September, Bell MTS Place, Winnipeg, Canada
30 September, Rogers Place, Edmonton, Canada
3 December, TAURON Arena Kraków, Poland
5 December, Stadthalle, Vienna, Austria
6 December, Stadthalle, Vienna, Austria
12 December, Echo Arena, Liverpool, U.K.
14 December, SSE Hydro, Glasgow, U.K.
16 December, O2 Arena, London, U.K.

Paul and his band will also be among the artists headlining the Austin City Limits festival in Texas, over two weekends in October.
