Now in its second year, SheppSounds is a not-for-profit youth music initiative founded by local music journalist Kiel Egging, designed to give talented young musicians from Shepparton and surrounds the chance to kick-start their careers at a local level.

Since being selected at the auditions back in July, this year’s five acts – Jorja Bromley, Charlotte Gemmill, Kate Hall, Stevie Renee and the Young Ugees – have recorded their own original song in a local studio, taken part in a variety of mentoring workshops with established local musicians and done a handful of live performances previewing their talents.

All their hard work will culminate in today’s major concert at local bar Noble Monks – which will feature short sets from each of the acts, along with performances from country music stars Briana Lee and Adam Toms, who were mentors for this year’s initiative. Local band Mother Dearest will also be joining the artists as house band on the day.

The SheppSounds 2012 Major Concert and Compilation Launch is on at Noble Monks, 126 Maude St, Shepparton from 1pm today. Entry is $5 at the door. The SheppSounds 2012 compilation will be available to buy for $10. For more information visit www.sheppsounds.com.au.
