American blues rock guitarist Jimmie Vaughan is a real guitar hero.

Vaughan based his style on guitar great Freddie King and took his influences from B.B. King and Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson.

Vaughan formed his own band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds which he left to form a duo, the Vaughan Brothers with his brother Stevie Ray Vaughan. Sadly Stevie was killed in a plane crash just before the release of their only album.

Jimmie has been releasing solo albums since 1994. The most recent were the bookend ‘Plays Blues, Ballads and Favorites’ in 2010 and ‘Plays More Blues, Ballads and Favorites’ in 2011.

Noise11’s Paul Cashmere caught up with Jimmie Vaughan at SXSW.
