Gaspard and Xavier of French prog-disco fantasists Justice talk sincerity, critics, and not being a dance act.

As part of a new wave of French electro-disco, Justice certainly had an amazing start: winning a Grammy and MTV Award, remixing everyone from Britney to Daft Punk to U2, hitting Best Of lists, and travelling around the world on the back of their debut album.

Their 2011 album, Audio Video Disco, has not been received so well. Some love them for their bombastic ’70s prog-rock synths, some think that they’re being “ironic” with their retro-futurist electro epics.

We discuss remixing, critical acceptance, sincerity vs irony, and they tell a quaint story about how they met Vincent from Midnight Juggernauts, who guests on the album.
