30 Days 30 Songs Expands To 1000 Under Demagogue Rule

The 30 Days 30 Songs campaign, developed as a precursor to the rule of demagogue Trump, has been expanded to follow the first 1000 days of the American regime (if he lasts that long).

The project was started by author Dave Eggers and Death Cab For Cutie manager Jordan Kurland as a reaction to the foul methods the demagogue used to grab headlines in a lead-up to the American election.

Death Cab For Cutie provided the first song ‘Million Dollar Loan’, about how the demagogue was born with a silver spoon and “borrowed” from his family to build his business.

In the first 30 days songs by Franz Ferdinand, Aimee Mann, Josh Ritter, R.E.M. and Moby were contributed to the campaign.

The site has now expanded to include songs by David Bowie, Tracy Chapman, Eagles, Johnny Cash and Marvin Gaye.

All proceeds from the streaming of original material on 1,000 Days, 1,000 Songs will be donated to The Center for Popular Democracy.
