When Airbourne entered the studio with Canadian producer Brian Howes they discovered he was a fan of The Angels.

Howes was a member of Canadian band Closure and was recruited to work in Airbourne’s third album ‘Black Dog Barking’. While he knew the songs of The Angels, he didn’t know the famous chant, so Airbourne taught it to him. “The thing about Brian is until you meet him you don’t realise what a big rock and roll fan he is,” Joel O’Keefe tells Noise11. “When we got there he was playing ‘No Secrets’ by The Angels on acoustic guitar. He was playing another Angels song as well ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ and he didn’t know the “no way, get fucked, fuck off” line. I sang it, he went ‘what’s that bit’ and we YouTube’d it and he said ‘that’s a hook’.

Howe is a producer, songwriter and a band member so Airbourne were comfortable with him behind the desk. Now that the album is done, they plan on talking Brian’s new band out as their support act. That wasn’t easy as it sounds. Brian did not currently have a band so he had to put one together. “When we were talking in the studio he said he wanted to open for our band in Europe,” Ryan O’Keefe said. “He made the band, the band is called Bloodstone, he’s made the song, its called ‘80s Child’ and we are hopefully going to put them on the European tour”.

Airbourne’s third album ‘Black Dog Barking’, produced by Brian Howes, will be released tomorrow (May 17) through Warner Music.
