Allman Brothers Plan Final Shows

Allman Brothers Band are preparing for their final shows.

The Allman Brothers have announced four rescheduled dates for October at the Beacon Theatre in New York to make up for cancelled shows during their spring run due to Gregg Allman’s bout with bronchitis. In addition, they’ve added two more shows which they are calling their “final concerts”.

From the press release:

Immediately following the four make-up dates, the ABB have announced the final shows for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group, which formed in 1969. These final ABB performances will also be at the Beacon Theatre October 27 and 28, a venue the band has played exactly 232 times since their annual tradition began there in 1989. On-sale information for the two newly-added shows will be announced in the near future.

Earlier this year, two members, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes, announced that they would be leaving the band. If the wording of the press release can be believed, it appears that the remaining members are not interested in carrying on as an entity.

Trucks, though, isn’t totally convinced, telling Billboard “Originally the idea was, ‘Well, let’s go out strong and we’ll end it together at 45.’ That’s kind of the why I’ve been hanging around the last two or three years. That’s been the idea for some time. I know that now that date’s approaching and it’s becoming a reality for the other guys in the band, I don’t know if that’s exactly how it’s gonna go down. Who knows; I don’t think anyone knows exactly what’s gonna happen. I would never count that band out.”

10/28 – New York, NY – Beacon Theatre
