Former Weekend Sunrise host Andrew O’Keefe will bring his ‘Andrew O’Keefe Shouts Johnny O’Keefe’ show to Melbourne for two nights in October.

Andrew is the nephew of Australian Rock and Roll legend Johnny O’Keefe. Andrew first performed this show at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival earlier this year and will give Melbourne a dose of JOK at the Palms.

Johnny O’Keefe was christened The Wild One after his 1958 hit song. O’Keefe co-wrote The Wild One. The song has been covered by many artists worldwide including Jerry Lee Lewis, Status Quo, Jerry Allison of The Crickets, Suzi Quatro and Iggy Pop (who titled his version Real Wild Child).

He had 21 Top 40 hit singles between 1958 and 1973.

Johnny O’Keefe died in 1978 at age 43.

Andrew O’Keefe spent 12 years fronting Weekend Sunrise. He is also the host of The Chase Australia. He was also once cast as King Herod in the 2013 arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar but had to step aside from the role a month in because of a neck injury.

Andrew O’Keefe Shouts Johnny O’Keefe will be on at Palms at Crown on 19 and 20 October 2018.
