Lukas Graham is spending their seventh week at the top of the ARIA Singles chart with their similarly numbered song “7 Years”.

And by staying for a seventh week at No.1 the song “7 Years” (#1 both digi/stream) ties with the other longest running No.1 by a Danish act in “Doctor Jones” by Aqua (7 weeks from 28th Dec, 1997), so if the Lukas stays for a further week they will become the act from Denmark with the longest stay at the top in Australia, plus their second self-titled album came out on Friday, so we could see an No.1 monopoly on next weeks’ charts. The last act to spent seven weeks at the top was Justin Bieber from the 14th of Dec last year through until the end of January this year with “Love Yourself”.

Waiting in the wings at No.2 for a third straight week is Alan Walker with “Faded” (#2 digi/#3 stream), whilst on hold at No.3 for a second week are Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign with “Work from Home” (#3 digi/#2 stream, #2 in the UK), and back up one spot to No.4 and spending its eighth week within the Top 5 (and Top 10, as it hasn’t dropped any lower than #5 so far) are twenty one pilots with “Stressed Out” (#8 digi/#15 stream), which could hold within the Top 10 for awhile longer as the band will be here in just under three weeks (from April 20th) to tour the country.

Landing his second Top 10 single in Australia is Mike Posner with his current UK No.1 single (for a third week) “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” (#5 digi/#6 stream), which leaps up seven places to land at a new peak of No.5 here this week, and it has taken the same amount of time to reach the Top 10 (six weeks) as his first entry “Cooler Than Me” (HP-4, peaked early Oct 2010), but that song took four weeks to climb into the Top 5, whereas his new track does it first week. Also scoring a new peak this week is Sia and her “Cheap Thrills” (#9 digi/#11 stream), which returns to the Top 10 for a third week and is up five spots to No.6, plus it also receives a ▲Platinum sales certification, whilst it is also Top 10 in eleven overseas countries at the moment, the best being No.3 in both Ireland and Belgium, plus this week it jumps to No.4 in England.

The Hilltop Hoods fall three spots to No.7 with “1955” (#7 digi/#5 stream) and back up one place to No.8 is Flo Rida and “My House” (#11 digi/#17 stream), whilst also dropping three this week is Daya with “Hide Away” (#10 digi/#8 stream) to No.9, but she does jump into the Top 15 with her next chart appearance on The Chainsmokers track, and finally down two spots to No.10 is Charlie Puth with “One Call Away” (#13 digi/#28 stream), spending its tenth week within the Top 10.

UP: Meghan Trainor climbs two spots to a new peak of No.11 with her new single “No” (#6 digi/#23 stream), and jumping into the Top 20 for the first time are The Chainsmokers and Daya with “Don’t Let Me Down” (#12 digi/#14 stream), up twelve to No.13; and the Disturbed version of “The Sound of Silence” (#4 digi only) jumps eight to land at a new peak of No.15. Ariana Grande climbs two places to land a new chart height of No.18 with “Dangerous Woman” (#19 digi/#19 stream) and holding at its peak of No.27 for a second week is Alessia Cara with “Wild Things” (#26 digi/#27 stream). Tinie Tempah and Zara Larsson jumped into the Top 40 last week with “Girls Like” (#25 digi), which this week jumps up eight to land within the Top 30 at No.29. With the debut album for Zayn landing at the top this week, the third release from the album “Like I Would” (#39 digi/#26 stream, HP-31) is back up nine this week to No.33 whilst Justin Bieber is up six to a new peak of No.35 with “Company” (#34 digi/#32 stream). Rufus blast back into the Top 50, up thirty places to No.40 with “You Were Right” (#33 digi) and also leaping into the fifty is Iggy Azalea and her track “Team” (#35 digi), which is up thirty-six chart rungs this week to No.43.

DOWN: Leaving the Top 10 for the first time is Flume and Kai with their former No.1 single “Never Be Like You” (HP-1×1, WI10-10, #16 digi/#4 stream) down two spots to No.12 and the only other Top 10 dropout is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with “Dance off” (HP-7, WI10-1, #14 digi) which halves its position from last week and drops seven spots to No.14. Kiiara is only down three to No.17 with “Gold” (#21 digi/#22 stream) thanks to her new EP debuting this week, whilst leaving the Top 20 and dropping six spots to No.22 is Rihanna and Drake with “Work” (#28 digi/#9 stream). “Love Yourself vs F@*k Yourself” (#15 digi) by Yo Preston and Kelly Kiara drops six spots to No.24, after which we see “All My Friends” (#20 stream) by Snakehips down four to No.36 and also down four to No.38 is Little Mix and Jason DeRulo with “Secret Love Song” (#31 digi) {this might jump next week due to it being screened on Ch.10’s Graham Norton Show on Friday night here}. Samantha Jade falls nine to No.42 with “Always” (#36 digi), One Direction sees “History” fall eight to No.44 and L.D.R.U. is down seven to No.45 with “Keeping Score” (#30 stream) and holding at No.50 for a third week is Zara Larsson’s first chart entry “Never Forget You” (#38 stream).

California DJ and musician Gnash scores the highest new entry of the week as his first entry “I Hate U, I Love U” (#17 digi) featuring vocalist Olivia O’Brien comes in at No.26 this week, giving him his first charting placing in the world (at the moment) and it is the first taste from his just released 7 track EP “us”. And the second and final Top 50 entry this week is from actress(True Grit & Pitch Perfect 2)/model/singer Hailee Steinfeld who was in the country this past week on a promo tour, which helps her latest single “Rock Bottom” (#30 digi) featuring DNCE to debut at No.39 this week. This becomes her second Top 100 chart entry after “Love Myself”, which made it to No.92 in mid-October of 2015, both tracks taken from her debut EP “Haiz”.

Lower 50: “Tremble” (HP-53) by Nicole Millar is back up five spots to No.54 and jumping nine spots to a new peak of No.60 is DNCE with “Cake by the Ocean”, and just after them, and up eleven to a new chart height of No.61 is Shakira with her ‘Zootopia’ song “Try Everything”. Joel Adams returns at No.78 with his debut entry “Please Don’t Go” (HP-65), and back up twenty places to No.79 is Sia with “Alive”, and she also returns at No.94 with “Chandelier”, with further returns being “Stand by You” by Rachel Platten at No.86 and the new longest charting single winner returns at No.87, John Legend with “All of Me”, racking up its 86th week within the Top 100.

There are only two new entries in the lower fifty, and they’re both within the 90’s; firstly is Nick Jonas who teams with Tove Lo for the first single released from his June due third album ‘Last Year was Complicated’; and the song “Close” which debuts at No.90 becomes his fourth Top 100 singles chart entry in Australia. One place lower at No.91 is the band Magic! who have teamed up with Sean Paul for the reggae infused track “Lay You Down Easy”, and it becomes the bands third Top 100 entry, the biggest being their debut track “Rude” (HP-2×2, peaked mid-Dec 2013), and it also becomes the sixteenth Top 100 entry for Sean Paul and his first appearance here since September 2014 on the Enrique Iglesias song “Bailando” (HP-52).
