For a third straight week the Jessica Mauboy soundtrack to her current TV Series “The Secret Daughter” is at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart.
This becomes the longest successive run at the top of the Albums chart during 2016, although Adele did ring up three weeks in January with her “25” album, but it was a two-week then one week run at the top, interrupted by the David Bowie album “Blackstar” on the 18th of January. And the last time an Australian performed album spent three consecutive weeks at the top was another Sony title “Two Strong Hearts” by John & Olivia (July 2015). And with the series finale this coming Monday night, we could see another week at the top for Jess, or alternately there are potential new No.1’s released this week from Robbie Williams, Birds of Tokyo, Bon Jovi and Alicia Keys.
Michael Buble’s “Nobody But Me” is up one spot to a new peak of No.2 and also up a place to a new chart height of No.3 is Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and their second collaboration “The Wonder of You”. Triple J’s “Like a Version Vol.12” climbs back up two spots to No.5 and last week’s No.2 entry of “Joanne” for Lady Gaga drops four spots this week to No.6. Safe for a second week within the ten is the Leonard Cohen album “You Want it Darker”, which is down three to No.9 and holding at No.10 for the second week is the Barry Gibb set “In the Now” for a fourth week inside the Top 10.
UP:
* Wings of the Wild – Delta Goodrem flies up thirty-six places to No.13 thanks to a new Tour Edition of the album being released, plus she is currently doing shows around the nation too.
* Illuminate – Shawn Mendes is back up six places to No.16 thanks to his tour here last week.
* Views – Drake jumps back up twenty-six spots to No.28 thanks to his new chart entries, even though the new songs aren’t on this album.
* Hills End – DMA’s returns to the Top 100 at No.37 this week.
* X – Ed Sheeran is back up eleven spots to No.39.
* Christmas – Michael Buble is back into the chart at No.43 thanks to its annual seasonal sales for a sixth straight year.
* If I Can Dream – Elvis Presley & the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is up twelve to No.55.
* The Very Best of – Prince returns to the chart at No.59.
* Greatest Hits – Fleetwood Mac jumps up twenty-five places to land at No.60.
* Internal – Safia climbs back up seventeen spots to No.65.
* G.H.s – Neil Diamond & Fleetwood Mac return to the Top 100 at No.70 and No.78 respectively.
* Bloom – RuFus jumps back up fifteen spots to No.74.
* Title – Meghan Trainor rebounds sixteen places to No.76.
* Currents – Tame Impala is back into the Top 100 at No.80.
* Matilda the Musical – Cast Recording returns at No.95
* 5: The Gray Chapter – Slipknot was No.1 two years ago (27-Oct-2014) and returns at No.98.
DOWN:
* Walls – Kings of Leon (HP-3, WI10-2) drops two places to No.11 after two weeks in the Top 10.
* The Serenity of Suffering – Korn (HP-5, WI10-1) drops thirteen places to No.18.
* This is Acting – Sia resurged last week due to its repackaging with bonus tracks and is back down eleven to No.23 this week.
* 25 – Adele is down seven to its namesake, No.25, and it does so in its 50th week on the chart, it’s lowest charting placing to date.
* Revolution Radio – Green Day is down twelve places this week to No.26.
* Lifelines – I Prevail (HP-8, WI10-1) tumbles twenty-three spots to No.31.
* A Pentatonix Christmas – Pentatonix halves its position from last week’s debut of No.16 to No.32 this week, but will most likely climb the closer we get to the seasonal end of the year.
* Day Breaks – Norah Jones is down sixteen spots to No.35 in its fourth week on the chart.
* Chapter & Verse – Bruce Springsteen drops twelve spots this week to No.40.
* Falling in Love – Andre Rieu peaked at No.20 last week but is down twenty-one this week to No.41.
* Meant to Be – The Koi Boys see their debut album plummet thirty-one spots to No.44
* My Dear Companion – Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris is down twenty to No.45.
* Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea – Passenger drops sixteen spots to No.46.

* Guardians of the Galaxy – Soundtrack is back down thirty-seven to No.83.
* Don’t Let the Kids Win – Julia Jacklin peaked at No.42 last week and this week plummets fifty-seven rungs to sneak in at No.99.

NEW ENTRIES:
* #4 – The Stage – Avenged Sevenfold (LP#7) was a surprise release from this hardcore band, becoming their fifth albums chart entry, and their second best peak after “Hail to the King” (LP#6, HP-2, 2-Sept, 2013) and this is also their third Top 10 album and entry.
* #7 – Two Vines – Empire of the Sun (LP#3) becomes the Australian duo’s third Top 10 album and third Top 10 debut, as they previously charted with “Walking on a Dream” (LP#1, HP-6, 2008, entry pos #8) and “Ice on the Dune” (LP#2, HP-3, 2013, entry pos #3).
* #8 – Back from the Edge – James Arthur (LP#2) is the new UK No.1 album this week and becomes his first Top 10 entry here, beating the No.14 peak his debut self-titled set achieved almost three years ago (18-Nov, 2013), and it also contains the current No.1 national single “Say You Won’t Let Go”.
* #12 – The Ultimate Collection – Roy Orbison (GH#23) is the twelfth best of to chart here in Australia for Roy, he first sent a career compilation into the charts in early 1965 with his “Greatest Hits Vol.2” which went to No.5, and his last album to reach this high was his fourteenth best of collection “The Very Best of Roy Orbison” which climbed to No.11 in mid-May of 2006.
* #19 – Cosmic Halleluah – Kenny Chesney (LP#16) is the US country singers fifth studio album to chart here and now his first to crack the Top 20, his previous best effort was with his last album “The Big Revival” (HP-31, Oct 2014).
* #20 – TKAY – Tkay Maidza (LP#1) is the debut set for the Australian singer/songwriter.
* #21 – Lady Wood – Tove Lo (LP#2) is the Swedish singer’s second album and now highest charting, beating the No.47 peak her first entry “Queens of the Clouds” achieved in mid-Oct 2014.
* #22 – The Complete Whispering Jack (30th Anniversary Edition) – John Farnham; the 24x▲Platinum selling 30-year-old album makes a repackaged return to the chart this week, having first charted on the 20th of October, 1986, and the album’s lead single “You’re the Voice” taking pole position on the singles chart this week in 1986 (3-Nov).
* #24 – Brotherhood of the Snake – Testament (LP#11) is the first chart entry in Australia for the San Francisco-based thrash metal band.
* #50 – Cozy Tapes Vol.1: Friends – A$AP Mob (LP#1) is the first studio album for the fourteen A$AP band members, although they have released mixtapes and EP’s previously, and featuring such A$AP brothers as Rocky, Ferg and Nast.
* #52 – Ghosts of the Social Dead – Superheist (LP#3) is the first new album from the Melbourne nu metal act in fourteen years, with the previous entries being “The Prize Recruit” (LP#1, HP-12, April 2001) and “Identical Remote Controlled Reactions” (LP#2, HP-20, Sept 2002).
* #58 – DC4 (mixtape) – Meek Mill (MX#9) is the fourth in his mixtape series ‘Dreamchasers’ and becomes his second entry here after his second album “Dreams Worth More than Money” (HP-26, July 2015).
* #62 – Parachutes – Frank Iero and the Patience (LP#2) is the first entry here for the band led by My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero, and is his second solo album away from the band, but the first with The Patience.
* #85 – Dead to the World – Helmet (LP#8) is the first entry for this New York-based alt-metal act this century, as the band had three albums chart here in the 1990’s, their best was with their fourth album (and last entry) “Aftertaste” (HP-20, March 1997).
* #90 – This Light I Hold – Memphis May Fire (LP#5) becomes the Texas metalcore’s second chart entry in Australia after their fourth album “Unconditional” (HP-75, March 2014).
* #91 – The Best of – David Gray (GH#4) is the second best of set for UK singer/songwriter David Gray to chart here, after his first made it to No.61 in December of 2007, and his last albums chart entry here was with his tenth album “Mutineers” (HP-22, June 2014).
* #93 – Vivaldi – Avi Avital (LP#2) is the first entry for the Israeli mandolinist and composer, but his first to chart within the ARIA Top 100 Albums.
* #100 – The Singles – Phil Collins (GH#3) is a new collection from the Genesis drummer and singer and his third compilation of singles to chart here. His first and biggest “Hits” (HP-2, peaked early Nov 1998) and has been charting on-and-off since then, and then his second was “Love Songs: A Compilation… Old and New” (HP-37, peaked late Oct 2004).
