Barbra Streisand will perform at this year’s Academy Awards.

The 70-year-old actress and singer will take to the stage on February 24, performing at the Oscars for the first time in 36 years.
In 1977 Barbra sang A Star is Born at the lavish awards ceremony and it’s her longstanding history with the event that makes her perfect for a 2013 appearance.
‘In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand?” producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron gushed in a statement.
“We are honoured that she has agreed to do a very special performance on this year’s Oscars, her first time singing on the show in 36 years.”
As well as providing musical entertainment in 1977, the star picked up a gong for best original song for Evergreen (Love Theme from A Star is Born).
She also made an appearance at the 75th annual Academy Awards to present Eminem with an Oscar for best original song for Lose Yourself.
During the 2010 ceremony, the 70-year-old announced Kathryn Bigelow had won the best director prize for The Hurt Locker.
Along with her best original song award, Barbra also received a best actress Oscar in 1969 for her role in Funny Girl.
Adele and Norah Jones have also been lined up to sing at the event next month.
The former will sing her James Bond theme tune Skyfall, while the latter will sing Everybody Needs a Best Friend from the comedy Ted. The ceremony, held in Los Angeles next month, will be hosted by funny man Seth MacFarlane.
