Bob Dylan Fans Search Out Dylan’s Sinatra

by Paul Cashmere on March 8, 2015

in News

Bob Dylan’s tribute to Sinatra album ‘Shadows In The Night’ has sent fans searching for the songs previously recorded by Frank Sinatra.

Although technically not a Sinatra covers album (Frank wasn’t a songwriter), every song on Dylan’s ‘Shadows In The Night’ had been recorded at one stage by Frank Sinatra.

The oldest track ‘Full Moon and Empty Hearts’ dates back to 1946. Sinatra released his first album that year but started recording in 1939 (at age 24) with the Harry James Orchestra.

Dylan personally hand-picked the 10 songs on ‘Shadows In The Night’, all of which were recorded by Sinatra between 1946 and 1964. Dylan especially favoured the 1957 album ‘Where Are You’, choosing three tracks from that album for his record.

Bob Dylan ‘Shadows In The Night’ was recorded in January, 2015 and peaked at no 8 in Australia, no 7 in the USA and no 1 in the UK.
