A UK bookie has given odds on David Bowie and Arctic Monkeys as winners for the Mercury Music Prize.

William Hill have joint favourites for whom will win the 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize and offer 4/1 for both David Bowie & Arctic Monkeys. Next up are the Foals & Laura Marling at 5/1. Perhaps the most interesting outsider is Laura Mvula who William Hill offer at 8/1.

‘Bowie was back with a bang earlier this year and he was always going to be towards the top of the betting but with a wide variety of artists on the shortlist it is by no means his title,’ said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

William Hill Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize: 4/1 Arctic Monkeys, 4/1 David Bowie, 5/1 Foals, 5/1 Laura Marling, 7/1 Disclosure, 7/1 James Blake, 8/1 Jake Bugg, 8/1 Laura Mvula, 8/1 Rudimental, 10/1 Jon Hopkins, 10/1 Savages, 10/1 Villagers

The 2013 Albums of the Year are:

Arctic Monkeys – AM
David Bowie – The Next Day
Disclosure – Settle
Foals – Holy Fire
Jake Bugg – Jake Bugg
James Blake – Overgrown
Jon Hopkins – Immunity
Laura Marling – Once I Was An Eagle
Laura Mvula – Sing to the Moon
Rudimental – Home
