Boom Crash Opera Set For First Andrew De Silva Show Friday

Boom Crash Opera will set out for their first tour with new singer Andrew De Silva starting Friday in Albury.

Former CDB frontman Andrew De Silva was recruited into Boom Crash Opera after original singer Dale Ryder decided to no longer tour with the band.

“Rehearsals went really well and we’re very pleased with the sound of the group,” Boom Crash Opera’s Maz tells Noise11com. “The new live set contains 2 new songs, the (obvious) singles, and songs we dug out from the past like ‘Gap That Opened’. One of the reasons to play such rarities, is that Andy responded positively when he heard them”.

The addition of De Silva has given a new boost of life to Boom Crash Opera. “Andy brings another level of intuitiveness and we’re really keen to come up with some new and different stuff,” Maz says. “Andy has been finding his way through the Boom Crash maze, but as an extremely gifted individual, he has been more than capable in fulfilling this substantial role”.

Fans can expect to see Boom Crash Opera sounding like Boom Crash Opera. “Boom Crash Opera is a well-refined live act,” he said. Our approach to a live show is often empirical as It comes from years and years of touring. We know certain elements work, so we keep them”.

All will be revealed at the first show in Albury. Maz calls it ‘organised chaos’. “’Organised Chaos often defines Boom Crash Opera’s live shows and it doesn’t come from rehearsals,” he said. “So far, the band has been ticking off the ‘to do’ list of songs and working them up in an coordinated manner. The exciting stuff comes from the ‘unknown’ which occurs when we play live .. it cant be rehearsed!”.
