in News

Burt Bacharach, 88, has been forced to cancel at least two live appearances due to a broken arm.

Bacharach, who plays piano and sings at his shows, has called off shows in Curacao on September 3 and Lancaster, CA on September 17 after the injury. His spokesperson was not sure how the injury occurred.

The songwriter is among the very best over the last sixty years with his songs, most with the late Hal David. Overall, Burt has had sixty-six of his songs hit the top 40, 28 make the top ten and six go all the way to number 1 (This Guy’s In Love With You, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head, (They Long to Be) Close to You, Arthur’s Theme (The Best That You Can Do), That’s What Friends Are For, On My Own). His first charting hit was Marty Robbins’ Story of My Life (1957 / #15), his first top ten Perry Como’s Magic Moments (1958 / #4) and his last top ten the previously mentioned On My Own by Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald (1986 / #1).
